Tashi Wangchuk is one of the younger members of the Wind Horse family. In Bhutan, it has long been a tradition, particularly among fresh graduates, to enroll in a professional guiding course. Tashi was no exception. For him, becoming a guide opened up a whole new horizon of learning and experiences.
As a guide, his role went far beyond explaining Bhutan’s traditions, culture, history, and social way of life to visitors. It also gave him the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and learn about their cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. These experiences helped broaden his understanding of the world and shaped him both personally and professionally.
Wind Horse Tours, Treks & Expeditions became the starting point of his career as a guide, and he has continued to grow with the company ever since. Over the past eight years, his dedication, commitment, and experience as a guide have allowed him to take on new responsibilities. With the opportunities provided by the company, he gradually transitioned from guiding in the field to working in office-based operations.
Today, Tashi plays an important role in the day-to-day tour operations of the company. He is often the person working behind the scenes to ensure that each tour runs smoothly—from assigning guides and vehicles to guests to coordinating with hotels, transport providers, and other service partners.
His years of experience as a guide have added great value to his current role as Operations Manager. Having personally experienced the realities of guiding and interacting with guests, he understands the needs of both travelers and field staff. This first-hand experience enables him to coordinate operations more effectively and maintain strong relationships with both guests and service providers.
From starting out as a young guide to becoming an important part of the team managing operations, Tashi’s journey reflects his dedication, willingness to learn, and steady growth within Wind Horse.
