Mr. Tenzin joined the monkhood with a deep aspiration to pursue his lifelong goal of becoming a red-robed monk under the guidance of H.H. Namkhai Nyingpo. Before entering monkhood, he received a Western education up to Class 10.
After entering the monastic life, he spent several years studying the foundations of Buddhist philosophy and teachings. He later joined the Shedra, a nine-year intensive course of Buddhist studies, where he completed an MA in Buddhist Philosophy under the strict and dedicated guidance of his teachers.
However, life took an unexpected turn when circumstances and severe financial hardship affected his family. After much inner struggle and contemplation, Tenzin made the difficult decision to disrobe and begin a new chapter of his life outside the monastery.
Determined to stand on his own feet and support his beloved parents, Tenzin pursued professional training in tour guiding. His dedication and willingness to learn eventually allowed him to work with Wind Horse Tours, Treks and Experiences as a permanent freelance guide.
Recognizing the importance of continuously developing his knowledge and skills, Tenzin never allowed himself to become complacent. He actively pursued additional training to broaden his abilities and remain competitive in his profession. Among these were a Mandarin language course, trekking guiding courses, and basic first-aid certification.
His journey from monkhood to the tourism profession reflects resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility toward his family. The discipline and knowledge he gained during his years of Buddhist study continue to shape his approach while dealing with tourists.
