Pema is a simple, humble, and slightly shy person with a deep and extensive knowledge of Bhutan. Originally from Khoma, Lhuntse Dzongkhag, the birthplace of the renowned Bhutanese textile, Kushuthara.
Pema graduated from North Bengal University, West Bengal, India, in 2012 with a Bachelor of Commerce. After completing his studies, he joined as an intern while preparing for the Royal Civil Service Examination, with the dream of becoming a finance officer. Although that dream did not come to fruition, it eventually led him toward a career that would become his true passion.
In 2014, Pema decided to take a different path and completed his professional guiding course. Soon after obtaining his guiding license, he joined Wind Horse Tours, Treks & Expeditions, where he began building his career in Bhutan’s tourism industry.
For more than a decade, Pema has had the privilege of representing Bhutan to travellers from around the world. Over the years, he has gained extensive experience and developed a genuine passion for sharing Bhutan’s unique culture, history, landscapes, and traditions with his guests.
His guiding style is warm, thoughtful, and personalised. He specialises in cultural journeys, hiking and trekking, combining his knowledge of Bhutan with genuine care and attention to each guest. Rather than simply showing visitors the sights, Pema enjoys creating meaningful experiences that allow travellers to connect with the people, culture, nature, and everyday life of Bhutan.
