Zangmu (Dram or Khasa)
Tibet border with Nepal
Zangmu, known as Dram in Tibetan and Khasa in Nepali, is the Tibetan border town facing Nepal, across the Friendship Bridge on the Bhote Koshi River. It sits on a steep hillside and has a wet, green climate unlike the plateau above.
It is a place for border formalities and a quick stop, with shops, money changers and restaurants. Beyond is the road that climbs to Nyalam and then the high plateau.
