Nyalam
Nyalam - Gateway to Hell
Nyalam is a small town on the Friendship Highway, about 30km from the Nepal border at an altitude of about 3,750m, on the road from Zangmu to the plateau. It is a common overnight stop for acclimatisation.
The Nyalam area has the cave associated with Milarepa, the great Tibetan yogi, and other holy sites. The setting is a steep valley with waterfalls and the first high mountain views.
