Trashigang Goemba
stunning vistas of Bhutan
Trashigang Goemba stands on a hilltop at about 3,200 metres above Thimphu. It was founded in 1768 by the 12th Je Khenpo, Kunga Gyatso. The complex has a monastery, a few temples and several retreat houses.
A road now reaches the monastery, and it is also possible to walk to or from Lungchutse in about an hour. The site is quiet and has views across the hills, making it a pleasant stop for those who enjoy a calm, less visited setting.
