Singye Dzong
Singye Dzong is a sacred meditation site in the remote north of Lhuentse District in eastern Bhutan. It is associated with Guru Rinpoche, who is said to have meditated here, and it is regarded as one of the holy places of the Nyingma tradition.
The site is a place of pilgrimage rather than a conventional sightseeing stop. It lies far from the main roads and is reached on foot, with a long journey from the nearest road head. Pilgrims visit the shrines and meditation caves and walk the paths between them.
Visitors should be prepared for a remote, high and basic setting, and for a pace set by weather and altitude. Your guide can explain the history of the site and the correct way to circle its shrines.
