There are many things to see beyond Thimphu itself, some taking a half day and others a full day. Sights close to the capital include Semtokha Dzong, the Simply Bhutan living museum and Cheri Monastery in the Thimphu valley.
Farther afield are the Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens and mountain views, Phajoding Monastery on the ridge above the city, and the Tango and Cheri monasteries.
