Trichy (Tiruchirapalli)
Trichy or Tiruchirapalli (city of three headed demon) sprawls on the banks of the Cauvery River, at the foot of colossal Rock Fort Temple perched on a massive rocky outcrop. A 437 rock cut steps leads to the shrine of the god Ganesh. A view of Trichy town from the hilltop here is breathtaking. Trichy is also famous for Sriranganathaswami temple at Srirangam, on an island created by Cauvery and one of its tributaries. The temple signifies the one of the five elements Water and we can see water oozing out near the Shivalinga idol in the temple. Apart from this a visit to the Gandhi Market in the heart of the city is very interesting.
