Tangboche Monastery
Tangboche Monastery is on the road from Tsetang to Chongye. Its yellow buildings are thought to date back to 1017. It was formerly a Kadampa institution and later absorbed by the Gelugpa.
The monastery is a small stop along the route to the royal tombs of Chongye and gives a glimpse of local monastic life.
