Ngamcho Monastery
Ngamcho was once a Kagyu monastery, founded by Tai Situ Changchub Gyaltsen of the Phakmodrupa in the 14th century and absorbed by the Gelugpa in the 17th century.
A newer temple has been built at the rear of the assembly hall, and it holds impressive images. The monastery is a quiet place away from the main tourist routes.
Plan it as a short stop as part of a longer drive in the area.
