Nepal Update: Floods, Recovery and Autumn Travel
Many of you have asked how people in Nepal are doing. We’re happy to report that all our team members and their families are safe and well, and they are looking forward to the Dasain celebrations. Communities hit by this season’s floods are grieving and rebuilding, especially in Rasuwa along the Bhotekoshi and in Gorkha’s Budhi Gandaki valley. Relief work is ongoing, and our thoughts are with every family affected.
For travelers, the news is mostly good. Most major trekking routes are open for autumn, including Everest, Annapurna Base Camp, Ghorepani, Mardi Himal, Langtang, Upper Mustang and the Annapurna Circuit over Thorong La.
Some disruptions remain:
The Kathmandu–Syabrubesi road to Langtang is closed after bridge collapses, but alternative access routes are in use.
New flooding has damaged Manaslu trails, and Tsum Valley trekking is suspended for now.
Landslides have cut several highways to one-way traffic, including the Tribhuvan Highway and the Beni–Jomsom road.
Our staff in Nepal check conditions daily and will adjust routes wherever needed. If you are booked or planning a trip, please contact us and we’ll go through your itinerary with you.
