Upper Assam – Unexplored Frontier

This short sojourn play a perfect extension to connect with Bhutan tour especially, Eastern Bhutan - the quaint Frontier and Bhutan Traverse from west to east or vice versa.

To many, the word “Assam” may have an unfamiliar ring to it, and to a few, they generally associate it with famous Assam Tea. However, Assam harbours much more into its fold than just tea, specifically upper Assam. It’s a small pocket of area in the far northeast fringe of India, least explored, however, it houses some amazing sights and attractions of diverse proportions in superlative form within its lap within a span of a few hundred km.

This itinerary draws its inspiration from a gamut of diversities packed into one. The swashbuckling ride on the back of an elephant and jeep safari to the Kaziranga National Park that boasts of 70 % of highly endangered one-horned rhinoceros, some Asiatic elephants, wild buffalo, and many birds, and sighting of these citizens from a close quarter – a pilgrimage for the wildlife and birding enthusiast.
Just on the periphery of the park, there are some tea gardens which produce some of the finest tea in the world.
Barely 120 km from parks, it introduces you to the supposedly one of the largest river islands in the world – Majuli. It has preserved its age-old tradition of Vaishnavite culture in the form of the thriving Satara (Monastery). And it also has some wetland, which is home to many migratory birds.
